What do you enjoy about your event?
I enjoy competing more than anything. It’s always something to work for, something new to conquer. With competing there’s always that next PR you wanna run.
What has been the highlight in your running/throwing/jumping career thus far?
I’d have to say winning the 1600 last year at the BPS Track Invitational because it was the only race I ran that whole year for track and winning on my home track was pretty cool.
What’s the funniest thing that has happened to you while competing?
My 8 th grade year, I ran my first varsity track meet and I remember seeing my coach sitting there watching intently and the look on his face when I ran a pretty terrible time made me laugh so hard. Whenever I need to laugh I think of his face.
What thoughts run through your head while competing?
Usually it’s some parts of miscellaneous songs and it just helps keep my rhythm and focus.
What other sports do you enjoy?
I play tennis a lot. But I also play basketball, golf, and some soccer and football with friends.
What is your favorite food?
The pasta with blackened chicken and a warm pita from Ambrosia on Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo. It is my favorite pre-race meal.
What is one of your favorite movies?
My favorite movie is The Great Gatsby. I really liked reading the book, and the movie was really interesting how accurate it was to the book
What would be your ideal vacation?
It would probably be going out Miami or somewhere warm and listening to a lot of the cool dance and club music you hear in those areas. I love club/dance/dubstep music haha.
Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my grandfather because he is a great guy to be around and is the one who introduced me to sports and we still have Niagara University Men’s Basketball season tickets. This will be our 11th year going. He’s just one of the nicest and most outgoing guys I know.
What do you do to relax?
I’m usually at Roswell working on my research project there, but if I am free I’m at home listening to music, at the gym, or out with my friends at parties or walking around Elmwood. Occasionally you can find me chest painting for Sectional Soccer or Basketball games with my friends.
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I see myself continuing with my cancer research somewhere warm, married with a family, and still enjoying the thrill of competitive running.
