April 29, 2012Eaton Wins Men's Shot Put at Penn Relays Former Allegany-Limestone and Penn State standout, Blake Eaton, won the Olympic Developmental Men's shot put at the 2012 Penn Relays yesterday with a wining toss of 19.14m (62' 9.5"). |
April 27, 2012Kurzdorfer wins hammer throw Penn State sophomore Melissa Kurzdorfer (Lancaster) won the hammer throw with a toss of 205 feet, 1 inch at the annual Penn Relays. Her winning throw, which bettered her closest competitor's by 10 feet, came on her first attempt. She followed with five fouls. Her season-best is 207-0. She'll compete in the shot put and discus this weekend. "Warm-ups didn't go very well, so on my first throw I just wanted to get one in," she said. "It was the only throw I had all day. It still didn't feel very good, so you know there's a lot more in the tank. It's the closest I've been to my PR so it's exciting." |
April 26, 2012Dewart wins Penn Relays heptathlon PHILADELPHIA -- Ithaca College senior Emma Dewart (Barker) won the Penn Relays heptathlon at Franklin Field on Wednesday. Falling just nine points shy of her own school record, she powered to a 378-point victory with her 5,006-point performance. Dewart, who led the field following day one of competition, won two of the final three events. She was victorious in the long jump with a mark of 5.49 meters to hit the ECAC qualifier and score 697 points. She placed second in the javelin with a 30.00-meter toss for 477 points, before crossing the finish line of the 800-meter run first in 2:23.44 good for 777 points. Read full story... |
March 12, 2012 Becky O'Brien (Cumberland, ME/Greely) of the women's track and field team picked up second-team All-America honors at the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships. O'Brien reached the championship final of the women's shot put, placing ninth with a top throw of 53-5.25 (16.30m). Additionally, she was also named as the Northeast Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA. O’Brien Earns Second-Team All-America Honors, Places Ninth at NCAA Indoor Championships ![]() Rob Golabek (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) of the men's track and field team earned first-team All-America honors at the NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships. Golabek finished seventh in the men's shot put with a top throw of 62-11.25 (19.18m). He was also named as the Northeast Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year by the USTFCCCA. UB's Erin Miller (Lockport) threw a personal best of 17.66m (57' 11-1/4" approx) and finished 5th overall at the MAC Championships in Akron, OH.
