MUSINGS & OBSERVATIONS

« And I Thought He Was My Friend - Clarence parent and good friend, I thought...Rocco Polino was directing the flow of traffic as parking was limited in the park. Being old and debilitated as I am, I asked my "good friend and buddy" Rocco if there was some way to park up by the concessions. He seemed somewhat relenting and said I would have to deal with Coach John Hunt but he finally said, "Dont be a wuss, turn around and park here with everyone else!" That's the editted version. That's OK, I reported him to the authorities...his wife Carol! (too funny Rocco, I'm still laughing!)

« And I Thought He Was My Friend 2 - WNY Official Glen Schup apparently was miffed about the comments I made last week about his grumpiness at the Alden Invite...or maybe it was the ribbing he was getting from fellow officials. You see Glen, no one is immune from good natured ribbing on Section6Runs. We've got a whole year left to get the others!

« There appeared to be a number of mishaps not only in the races but a couple of spectators today as well, most likely due to the treacherous conditions. Hope and pray everyone is OK.

« And I Thought She Was My Friend 3 - Thanks to Amherst parent Debbie Symoniak for her concern for me with balancing shooting photos and eating chili...it was a tough task but I managed to get all of it into my big mouth and not on the camera...I think I shot some decent photos as well...at least I didn't get stung by a hornet this time!

« To a certain boys varsity team from the Southern Tier, your pictures can be picked up via email once the "heat is off"...but I'm dying to post them!

« The Clarence coaches must have had fire trucks pumping water into the quagmire at the start because there's no way that even Mother Nature could be that cruel and literally flood the course like that. But then again, it wouldn't be the Fall Classic without a wet and muddy start!

« Concession alert - Let's see if I could get the Pioneer Italian sausage, the Olean cheeseburgers and the Clarence Booster's chili, I could die a happy, but very obese, man...literally!

« Fall colors were peaking but the winds blew a lot away. Despite that the yellows and golds were very much the dominant colors this year at Akron. Last year there seemed to be a lot more orange color. If I ever get the links back to last year's pages, you could see for yourself!

« After speaking to some parents and coaches today, this influenza bug is hitting everyone. Kids, please...get your rest and take care of yourselves. Yeah, it sounds like a broken record but this flu season seems to be more serious than in the past. Parents and coaches, that goes for you too. We all burn the candle at both ends, especially around the holidays but back off and stay healthy!
