Musings and Observations

  • Strider Field...what a sports venue! The track was exceptional, seating capacity amazing for WNY high school sports and the football field was like a nice commercial grade carpet, no kidding! The thing is padded just like a Berber rug!
  • There were so many announcements about the facility's "lightning detection device", you'd swear they were going to set it off regardless just to show it off.
  • I can't rank the food at Strider Field, one, because I was too caught up taking photo images of you guys and gals and gabbing with parents and coaches...besides, I think they ran out of food! Did they have any cheeseburgers?
  • Did you notice the line of parents and coaches forming behind the gals spraying the athletes with the hoses during the distance races? What's next, a water park at track & field facilities?
  • JFK organizers take note how the rain clouds held off during the day...Jamestown coach Steve Sipior must be in good with the weather gods.
  • Is it me or are the rails on the inside of the track more of a hinderance rather than a help? I saw many athletes, especially in the relays, trip over those darn things after hand-offs.
  • Kudos Department - Jamestown's Steve Sipior and his Jamestown track & field crew for a very well organized and run event. Very efficient and very few problems, if any.
  • To the Chautauqua Striders organization and CS Entires and Timing, many thanks for your time and effort in making the Sectionals a success.
  • To the WNY Track & Field Officials, a heartfelt thank you for your dedication and commitment to the sport. You kept things moving, kept us all in line and made us all aware that we couldn't have done it without you. One more to go and we'll give you the summer off!
