Fellow Pole Vault Plant club teammate and Livonia graduate Danielle Sherwood won the young women's competition with a personal best jump of 10 feet.  Sherwood would later come back to enter the elite women's competition on a whim and set a new personal best on the first attempt of her opening height at 10 feet 6 inches for 3rd place overall.  "Danielle was incredible.  She was sitting around all day after her first competition and we needed another woman to jump to provide a little more rest for the elite women.  I kind of half kiddingly asked if she wanted to jump and before I knew it she had her pole in her hand and her spikes on.  So she didn't get any warm ups or any mental preparation as the competition was already underway.  Danielle just got on the runway and jumped a new personal best.  I can't believe she had any energy left after winning her 1^st competition.  The best thing I can compare that to is a pinch hitter coming in cold during the 9th inning and hitting a grand slam to win the game."  Sherwood will be attempting to walk on to the Division 1 Syracuse University track team this year.

Danielle’s younger sister Gabrielle, a Livonia 9^th grader to be, joined the fun with a personal best of 8-0 and near miss at 8-6 to place 3^rd in the youth girls’ competition.
